Singapore Travel Guide (Video)
Some videos on Singapore Travel Guides (sort of).
5 1/2 minute video by "Mad Dogs & Englishmen travel":
The tips here are broad and general, and sometimes a little inaccurate (Supertree Grove 2:05 is free unless you wanna go to the OCBC Skyway, or the Supertree Observatory), but the general tips are helpful. He also has a Top 10 Attractions in Singapore.
Then there is the more professional video.
Thirty-five minute video on Singapore Travel Guide (Everything you need to know) by Yellow Productions:
Yellow Productions is a travel-oriented (and "oriental"? Actually, no. I do believe he has some videos on destinations in the US.) The video does a good job in giving you an orientation of the city (0:51), Getting around in Singapore (7:00), Food (15:35), Hotels (21:03), Language (22:03), Power (25:16), Casinos (25:55), Toilets (27:04), and things to do (28:13).
If you like this video, you may want to check out his hour-long video on his 100 hours (approximately 5 days) in Singapore. It features places to go, things to do and see, and food to eat.
So those are comments and tips from tourists and visitors to Singapore, I love seeing Singapore from their perspective. It helps me appreciate Singapore even more.
But if you like to hear tips from a Singaporean, read on.
Weather & Climate
Singapore is HOT and HUMID. Dress for summer. Or the beach in Summer,
But Singapore's weather can change almost without warning. And Weather Forecasts are often a waste of time. So bring an umbrella. No, not ponchos or raincoats. It's HUMID in Singapore. So the poncho may keep the rain off you, but it would trap heat and humidity inside, you and end up wet anyway. From your sweat.
[And ponchos are hard to put away when wet, and if you need to use it again, it's a hassle to put on when wet. An umbrella does not provide full body coverage like a poncho or a raincoat, but it is easier to pop open and put away as you need. And if the rain/storm is too heavy for your umbrella, pop into a shopping mall, or a bus or a train station until the worst of the storm is over.]
Because of the frequent rain, the government has built miles of shelters, so even without an umbrella, you can move about (with some restrictions) quite dryly.
See Singapore at Night
Singapore is Home to the First (and only?) F1 Night Race. One of the reason is because, it's too hot to race in the day.
We also have the Night Safari, which is basically a zoo that opens after dark. Because many creatures are active at night.
Then we have Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay Supertrees Grove, Spectra light show at Marina Bay Sands, and Satay Street next to Lau Pa Sat, that opens after the sun sets.
And still many tourists do not get the hint: See Singapore at Night! When it's cooler!
Perhaps it is because where they are from, the night belongs to the street gangs, and criminals, and the night is dangerous.
Not so in Singapore.
The night is cool. Or at least cooler.
At night spots like Collyer Quay, Boat Quay, and Robertson Quay, they cone alive at night.
You should too!
After all, Singapore has 11 of Asia's 50 best bars!
That's why you came to Singapore right? For the bars?
