Changing of the Guard at the Istana (2 Mar 2025)

 The Changing of the Guard at the Istana is carried out every first Sunday of the Month.

The Istana (Palace in Malay) is the official residence and office of the President of Singapore. Every first Sunday of the Month, there is the ceremonial Changing of the Guard with a parade, military band, and precision drill. 

The programme starts at 6.00 pm, subject to weather (inclement weather may lead to timing adjustments or even cancellation. In which case, the old guards will just have to continue for another month! I think...)

The format of the changing of the Guard is based on the British Changing of the Guards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace... except in Singapore, no horses... And no Beefeater hats (a.k.a. Bearskin. Cos no bears in Singapore... and it would be terribly hot!)

Unfortunately, the Precision Rifle Drill was not to the tune of "APT"...
